Dear members,
Lake Netting 12th Jan – 16th Jan 2026
Aquamarine sent a Team of 7 netters on each day, using their equipment of Seine nets and electrofishing equipment etc.
QUARRY LAKE
Monday and Tuesday
350 lbs Bream between 1 – 3lbs put into Long Lake
150lbs of small Rudd and roach put into Long Lake.
75 Carp between 10 – 20lbs taken out due to mouth damage so retired into Car Park Pond approx. weight 1125lbs
5 Tench up to 5 lbs put into Long Lake.
All other carp and pike were returned back into quarry lake.
5 Nettings done and 3 electrofishing sweeps over two days.
LONG LAKE - Wednesday
72 Carp netted and electro fished, 10 between, 7 – 10lbs put into Quarry the rest returned majority 4 – 6 lbs. 4 pike removed and put into Quarry. All silver fish returned. 4 nettings done and not as successful as expected and 3 sweeps around margins with electrofishing gear, an approximate guess that 10% of carp stocks were netted. This lake would benefit from partial draining before netting in any future nettings.
STOCK POND Thursday
250lbs of mixed small silver fish taken out and put into Little Long.
5 carp 8 – 10lbs into Churchyard, 6 of the same weight into Whyke lake. 120 returned average weight 4 – 7 lbs to continue to grow on.
3 large perch were put into little long.
LITTLE LONG Thursday
Removed 105 carp average weight 3 – 6 lbs, placed into stock pond to grow on.
Everything else was returned to the lake.
WHYKE LAKE Friday
Removed 250lbs of bream of 1 – 4 lbs and larger ones placed in long lake and rest into little Long.
100lbs of small silvers put into Little long. 16 Tench put into Little long 3 – 5lbs
All pike and carp returned.
CHURCHYARD LAKE Friday
Removed 20 Tench 1/2lbs to 2lbs put into Little long. Small Silver fish approximately 50lbs put into Long lake.
All pike and carp returned.
The general condition of all fish netted and electro fished was very good, fish looked well conditioned. No fish required treatment. The old carp placed in car park pond with mouth damage have been retired for a well earned rest, they will be fed and the pond aerated and they could potentially breed.
The condition of all fish shows they are benefitting from extra feed during the year and this will continue.
The committee have agreed the purchase of 20 x C6 carp fish over 20lbs for arrival mid February
