General Behaviour: By-Laws 1-10<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>1. Take your rubbish home with you.<\/strong><br \/>When you leave a swim, you must remove all items of litter, unused bait and discarded items of tackle (even if they were there when you arrived). You mustn\u2019t throw unused bait in the water or on the bank \u2013 this Tends to attract rats.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>2. Be polite and respectful.<\/strong><br \/>The committee want allow any language that\u2019s offensive, aggressive, harassing or excessively loud \u2013 no matter who it\u2019s directed at. This includes any interactions you have with other members through social media, phone calls and emails.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>3. Keep radios, phones, TVs and other devices quiet.<\/strong><br \/>It\u2019s fine to use these, as long as they\u2019re not a nuisance to others.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>4. No illegal drugs or excessive drinking.<\/strong><br \/>You mustn\u2019t possess any illegal drugs on the complex or be under the influence of them. Alcohol is okay, in sensible amounts.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>5. Damage nothing.<\/strong><br \/>Unless you have the committee\u2019s approval, you mustn\u2019t do anything that damages trees, vegetation, fencing or anything else that doesn\u2019t belong to you.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>6. No Dogs.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>7. No fires.<\/strong><br \/>Only the fishery management can start fires on the complex. Barbeques are okay, but only charcoal ones. And if you have a barbeque, you must take all remnants of it with you when you leave \u2013 charcoal included.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>8. No firearms, explosives or fireworks.<\/strong><br \/>Only committee-approved pest controllers can carry firearms.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>9. No boats or remote control devices.<\/strong><br \/>This includes bait boats and drones. Boats can only be used by the fishery management team.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>10. Refer only to \u2018southern stillwaters\u2019 when publishing catches.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_1 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">2. Accessing and moving around the Complex: By-Laws 11-19<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>11. You must have a valid membership to enter the complex.<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you\u2019re serving a suspension or you\u2019ve been expelled or refused membership you mustn\u2019t enter the complex.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>12. Enter the complex by Quarry Lane entrance only.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>13. No parking anywhere but the car park.<\/strong><br \/>\nPlease remember that the verges around the stock ponds aren\u2019t part of the car park. No cars are allowed around the lakes, other than those of fishery management, and you must follow all car parking signs and instructions.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>14. Keep all gates locked.<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can unlock a gate only to pass through it \u2013 once you\u2019re through, you must lock it behind you. If you find a gate open, you must lock it.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>15. All female members must have a ladies' toilet key.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>16. No access to the islands.<\/strong><br \/>\nAll the complex\u2019s islands are designated bird sanctuaries. Accessing them is acceptable only when the committee has approved it.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>17. No cycling.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>18. No swimming. <\/strong>Wading is permitted solely to safely land or release a \ufb01sh and only if it is safe to do so using your nearside margin. Margins can be silty, deep and dangerous. Always ensure you have a safe footing. If you need to enter the water ideally notify a nearby member or have assistance to hand.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>19. You\u2019re responsible for your own safety.<\/strong><br \/>\nThis applies to anyone who enters the complex, whether fishing or not. CDAS is not responsible for your safety.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_2 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">3. Respecting Fish and Wildlife: By-Laws 20-24<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>20. Catch and release only.<\/strong><br \/>You must return all fish (including eels) to the water alive. Fishing for live-bait is the only exception to the bylaw.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>21. You must return fish within a reasonable time. <\/strong><br \/>Weighing and photographing fish are the only acceptable reason for keeping a fish out of the water. This should take no longer than five minutes. This bylaw applies to across all lakes and all fish, for any type of fishing. Fishing for live-bait is the only exception.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>22. No transferring fish between lakes. <\/strong><br \/>This is only allowed when the committee and Environment Agency have approved it.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>23. No fish sacks are allowed on the complex.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>24. No interfering with wildlife. <\/strong><br \/>You mustn\u2019t deliberately harm any animal, its nest or eggs.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_3 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">4. Where you can Fish: By-Laws 25-29<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>25. Fish designated swims only. <\/strong><br \/>Each designated swim has a number. No fishing in stock ponds, unnumbered swims or anywhere there\u2019s a sign board saying you mustn\u2019t fish there.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>26. You mustn\u2019t fish (or have tackle in) two or more swims simultaneously.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>27. No fishing a lake that\u2019s closed for a match. <\/strong><br \/>When there\u2019s a match on a specific lake, that lake will close two hours before the start of the match and reopens only when the match ends.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>28. You can reserve only one swim for a maximum of 15 minutes. <\/strong><br \/>You can reserve swim by placing an item of tackle (or a bucket, water bottle, etc.) You must not reserve more than one swim, or reserve a swim for another member.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>29. You must respect members in adjacent swims.<\/strong><br \/>This is especially important when you\u2019re \ufb01shing a corner swim. Members should always \ufb01sh within the obvious and reasonable boundaries of their chosen swim. If this is next to or near other anglers it is expected you discuss locations with them before \ufb01shing.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_4 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">5. General Fishing Bylaws: By-Laws 30-41<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>30. Rod limits vary throughout the season:<\/strong><br \/>15 March to 30 to September: 2 rods maximum<br \/>1 October to 14 March: 3 rods maximum<br \/>Quarry is 2 rods only all season<br \/>Note: Long and Little Long, have their own separate limits. (See the 'Long Lake and Little Long Lake bylaws\u2019 section.)<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>31. No more than four rods in a swim. <\/strong><br \/>If you\u2019re sharing a swim with another person, you must fish no more than four rods (two each) between you. This applies to all lakes except for Long and Little Long (See section 10 Long and Little Long Bylaws).<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>32. Leave no baited hooks unattended. <\/strong><br \/>Even if it\u2019s not in the water. If you have a hook with bait on it, you must be there in the swim with it at all times.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>33. Barbless hooks only. <\/strong><br \/>This is across the whole complex. Crushed barb hooks are NO LONGER acceptable.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>34. Leave no fishing tackle unattended for more than 45 minutes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>35. Fish over half a pound must be landed by net only. <\/strong><br \/>Other than smaller \ufb01sh you can safely \u2018swing in\u2019, a landing net or sling is the only method allowed for transferring \ufb01sh from the water to the bank. If you are \ufb01shing Whyke, Quarry or Church Yard you must have a 42\u201d arm net (36\" arm net for Quarry) and a weighing\/recovery sling ready to use even when \ufb01shing for smaller species. At no time should a towel be used to hold fish.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>36. Carry a fish care kit of some description.<\/strong><br \/>To apply to any fish with damaged mouths or bodies and have to hand.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>37. Carry a high-sided or cradle-style unhooking mat. <\/strong><br \/>The only exception is during designated club matches. All mats must be well padded, of good quality and in good condition.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>38. No braided line. <\/strong><br \/>The only time you can use braided line is for marker float or spodding.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>39. No keepnets outside of matches. <\/strong><br \/>Match anglers keep nets (three each) and landing nets provided by the organisers.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>40. Dip all nets, mats and weigh slings. <\/strong><br \/>Before being taken the bank side. They must be removed from their bags before being dipped and must be fully immersed. The dip tanks are in the car park, by the toilets.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>41. No lead weights from 1oz to No. 8 shot (inclusive) on any lakes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_5 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">6. Baits Restrictions: By-Laws 42-44<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>42. Bring or use no more than 2kgs of bait per 24-hours.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>43. No pre-baiting or feeding swims.<\/strong><br \/>The only exception is when a member is occupying and \ufb01shing that swim.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>44. No peanuts.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_6 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">7. Night Fishing Bylaws: By-Laws 45-50<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>45. You must not fish longer than the maximum time allowed.<\/strong><br \/>After that, you must leave the complex and not return for 24 hours. This maximum time period varies throughout the season:<br \/>15 March - 30 September: Two consecutive nights maximum.<br \/>1 October - 30th November: Three consecutive nights maximum.<br \/>1 December - end of February: Five consecutive nights maximum.<br \/>1 March \u2013 14 March: Three consecutive nights maximum.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>46. 'One night\u2019 is between 7pm to 7am.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>47. No tents, caravans and motorhomes. Bivvies only.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>48. Bivvies must not block paths.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>49. One light only per member. <\/strong><br \/>And it\u2019s your responsibility to make sure your light isn\u2019t a nuisance to anyone close.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>50. Junior Members. <\/strong><br \/>Aren\u2019t allowed to night fish (7pm-7am) on the public footpath bank on Long or Quarry.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>This is for their own safety. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_7 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">8. Carp Fishing Bylaws: By-Laws 51-67<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>51. Hook size no larger than size 4 to be used.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>52. Only one hook per line. No doubles or trebles.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>53. No landing nets smaller than 42 in arms. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>54. No bent shanked hooks to be used.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>55. No leads that can\u2019t break free if the line snaps. <\/strong><br \/>Lead core must only be attached to a swivel at the hook end. The lead and clip must be able to drop free if your mainline breaks.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>56. No sharing of equipment. <\/strong><br \/>Each member and guest must have their own landing net, weight sling, fish care kit and high-sided or cradle-style unhooking mat.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>57. A high-sided or cradle-style. <\/strong><br \/>Unhooking mat that\u2019s well padded, good quality, in good condition and suitable for the size of fish you expect to catch. .<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>58. <\/strong><strong>If<\/strong><strong> you are fishing Quarry, Whyke or Churchyard <\/strong>you must have a landing net with a minimum of 42\u201d arms and a high sided unhooking mat capable of holding a 40lb + carp with an approximate length of 42 inches. You must also carry a retention\/ floatation\/weigh sling with solid arms. This must be used when lifting, weighing and returning your capture to the water.\u00a0(36\" net is acceptable for Quarry Lake)<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>59.When fishing near snags <\/strong>stay by your rods and lock up and ensure that your rods cannot be dragged from their rests. Don\u2019t let the fish get to the snags in the first place. If a fish does get into the snags do not pull for a break, but hold steady but not excessive pressure for a few minutes. If this fails, slacken your line and wait for the fish to move and tighten up. You may have to repeat this a few times before the fish frees itself.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>60. If possible, unhook your capture before lifting <\/strong>it from the water. This is not always possible if the fish is still lively.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>61. Before lifting your netted fish<\/strong> always ensure that your hook and lead are not snagged in the mesh and the lead is in the bottom of the net. Ensure the fins are flat to the fish\u2019s body. Your mainline must be slack and the bail arm open before attempting to lift the fish from the water to the unhooking mat. Absolute best practice, but not compulsory, is to cut the hook link or mainline above the lead or leader if using one. This ensures that no pressure can be applied to the fish\u2019s mouth during the lifting from the water to the mat.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>62. Always collapse your net.<\/strong> Don\u2019t roll the net around the arms if the mainline is still attached, as this will tighten the line to the fish. If possible, always transfer the net and fish into a recovery sling before lifting from the water and ensure all fins are flat to the body of the fish.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>\u00a063. Always ensure weighing, fish care and photography equipment<\/strong> is ready to use before lifting the fish from the water. Do not leave the fish alone once it is out of the water. Have ample water available to keep the fish wet and abide by Bylaw 21 regarding time out of the water and Bylaw 23 for retention after capture.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>64. Avoid the carp hitting the edges of the cradle, net arms etc.<\/strong> as this c<strong>a<\/strong>n cause irreparable damage especially to their tail section.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>65. Moving fish beyond the level area behind the swim<\/strong> for photographs is not permitted. Always keep the fish above the mat and as low as possible when taking photographs.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>66. Always treat the hook hold<\/strong> and any other damage before returning the fish to the water.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>67. Read and follow all the other byelaws. <\/strong>If you\u2019re carp fishing, reading just this section is not enough to understand all the bylaws that apply to you.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_8 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">9. Pike Fishing Bylaws (live-baits, dead-baits and lures): By-Laws 68-80<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>68. No pike fishing without a pike fishing (or lure fishing for perch) without a pike fishing stamp in your membership book. <\/strong><br \/>To get the stamp, you have to attend a pike 'teach -in\u2019 and prove you have all the right equipment to handle pike safely.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>69. No pike fishing outside the pike season. <\/strong><br \/>The season runs from 1 October to 14 March.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>70. Monofilament main line only.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>71. No mainline below 15lbs breaking strain.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>72. All ways use wire traces. <\/strong><br \/>These must be at least 14\u201d (36cm) and have a breaking strain of at least 25lbs. We recommend plastic coated wire.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>73. No more than two treble hooks may be used on any one trace.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>74. All trebles must be barbless, except for the bait-holding hook.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>75. No barbed hooks on lures.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>76. No gaffs or gags.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>77. To pike fish, you must have the following equipment with you at all times:<\/strong><br \/>Forceps at least 12in long.<br \/>Side cutters long enough and strong enough to cut the points off (even the strongest) treble hooks if you can\u2019t safely remove them.<br \/>A knotless landing net of no less 36\u201d arms or 24\u201d diameter.<br \/>A high-sided or cradle-style unhooking mat or flat mat of at least 130cm that\u2019s well- padded, good quality and in good condition.<br \/>Adequate weigh sling.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>78. Bite detectors must register \"drop back\" as well as runs.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>79. Use live bait fish only on the lake you caught them from.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>80. Read and follow all the other byelaws. <\/strong><br \/>If you\u2019re pike fishing, reading just this section is not enough to understand all the byelaws that apply to you.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_9 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">10. Long Lake and Little Long Lake Bylaws: By-Laws 81-84<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3><strong>81. No leaders. <\/strong>This includes lead core, (mainline to hook link).<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>82. No surface fished baits.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>83. Rod limits vary throughout the season:<\/strong><br \/>15 March \u2013 30 September: No more than one rod per angler.<br \/>1 October \u2013 14 March: No more than two rods per angler, if sharing a swim<br \/>1 October \u2013 14 March: No more than two rods per angler, if sharing a swim with another angler only 1 rod each.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>84. Read and follow all the other byelaws. <\/strong><br \/>If you\u2019re fishing Long Lake or Little Long Lake, reading just this section is not enough to understand all the byelaws that apply to you.<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_10 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">11. Guest Ticket Bylaws: By-Laws 85-97<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3>We do two kinds of guest tickets: 'day\u2019 and \u201924-hour\u2019.<br \/>\nAdult members can buy guest tickets from local tackle shops.<br \/>\nBut there\u2019s only one place that sells 24-hour guest tickets \u2013 SAS Donnington Road Chichester.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>85. No night fishing on a day guest ticket. <\/strong><br \/>\nHolders of a day guest ticket mustn\u2019t enter the complex before dawn and must leave before sunset. There\u2019s one exception: if the guest is fishing a Society match, they can fish from the start of the match to the end, regardless of the time.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>86. No more than three 24-hour guest tickets per member, per season.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>87. There\u2019s no limit on day guest tickets. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>88. No guest tickets for anyone who\u2019s been suspended or expelled from the club, or refused membership. <\/strong><br \/>\nWhen you buy a guest ticket, it\u2019s your responsibility to make sure your guest isn\u2019t, for any reason, forbidden from entering the complex.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>89. To buy a guest ticket, you need:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Show your membership book and have it marked.<br \/>\n\u2022 Pay the fee (whatever it may be at the time)<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>90. You can buy guest tickets for any for any lake on the complex.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>91. You can\u2019t buy 24-hour guest tickets for Whyke or Churchyard lakes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>92. You can\u2019t buy 24-hour for weekends. <\/strong><br \/>\nFor this bylaw, the weekend runs from midday Friday to midday Sunday.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>93. No Day Associate Members can buy 24-hour guest tickets.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>94. You\u2019re responsible for your guests\u2019 actions while they\u2019re on the Society\u2019s Property.<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s up to you to make sure they know the bylaws and follow them.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>95. Guests must be accompanied at all times. <\/strong><br \/>\nYour guest must share a swim with you or fish in a adjacent one.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>96. Non-fishing guests can sometimes stay after dark. <\/strong><br \/>\nGet in touch with the Membership Secretary if you want a non-fishing guest on the complex after dark.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>97. The Committee can control the issue of all guest tickets as they see fit.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_accordion_item_11 et_pb_accordion_item et_pb_toggle et_pb_module et_pb_toggle_close et_block_module\"><h2 class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">12. Introducing a child to angling: By-Laws 98-104<\/h2><div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content\"><h3>If you\u2019re an adult member, you can take a child guest (16 or younger) \ufb01shing with you, free of charge. But you must strictly follow these bylaws:<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>98. The child guest must fish in the same swim as you.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>99. The child guest must be under your supervision at all times.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>100. Child guests can fish with one rod only.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>101. Child guests can\u2019t arrive before dawn and must be off the complex by sunset.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>102. Child guests can only fish in Long Lake or Little Long Lake.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>103. Child guests can only fish swims along one bank. <\/strong><br \/>This is the bank that leads from the car park down to the A27 adjacent to Whyke Lake. We limit guests to these swims because all other banks are difficult for vehicles to reach in an emergency.<\/h3>\n<h3><strong>104. One member can bring only one child guest. <\/strong><br \/>If you want to bring two or more child guests, you\u2019ll need to have a second adult (18 or older) with you. This second adult must not be fishing and must be solely responsible for the safety of the child guest.
