Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

It will come as no great surprise to you all that with so much rain lately, areas of the complex are now being adversely affected with swim fronts under water and the factory bank of Quarry only passable with great care and a decent pair of wellies.<\/h2>\n

The Committee want you all to continue to enjoy your fishing but please be very careful and where water levels are high, the use of a bank stick to mark the front of your swim is highly recommended.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

For the foreseeable future the issue of day guest tickets will only be via SAS in Donnington or via the Secretary by post ( you must allow 7 days notice to allow Mrs Baker time to issue your ticket and must supply full details of yourself and your guest along with their EA licence number and the appropriate fee).<\/h2>\n

A further update on this matter will be issued in due course but in the meantime the Committee apologise for any inconvenience caused.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

FISH CARE<\/h2>\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

It has come to the attention of the Societies bailiffs that some members are still using cradles which are either not fit for purpose- please check the minimum dimensions in your Membership Books - or not in proximity to where you are actually fishing - your cradles should be beside you in your swim and not some distance behind you or half way up the bank.<\/h2>\n

It has also been noted that some members are using towels to handle their catches which is really not best practice as it can remove the protective layer on an individual fish and cause unnecessary damage as a result.<\/h2>\n

Please check that your cradle is compliant with the requirements as laid out in your book and do not handle your catches with a towel in future.<\/h2>\n

PROTECTING OUR FISH<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

The committee wants you all to enjoy and have the best possible experience while fishing on our complex.<\/h2>\n

For both the committee and all members, our number one priority is to protect our valuable fish stock. With this in mind, the Fishery Manager made the quick and correct decision to reinstall the rope across the bay on Churchyard.<\/h2>\n

are a clear example of rigs removed from this bay after a short period of boat work \u2014 and inevitably, there will be many more. Some of those found were unsafe fixed and barbed rigs<\/h2>\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

Following a meeting of the Committee, a discussion took place regarding the increase in net size from 36 to 42 inches as outlined in the Bylaws in your Membership Book.<\/h2>\n

\u00a0While it is still deemed best practice to use the larger net for optimum fish welfare, it is appreciated that for those pleasure anglers targeting silver fish, such a net is unnecessarily large.<\/h2>\n

\u00a0It has been decided to allow a 36 inch net on Quarry Lake but the 42-inch minimum remains a requirement for Whyke and Churchyard Lakes.<\/h2>\n

\u00a0Please note that the requirement for a rigid sided weigh sling\/retaining sling as per your book is still mandatory for Quarry, Whyke and Churchyard Lakes.<\/h2>\n

\u00a0As always, your attention and adherence to the contents of this information is greatly appreciated.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

PLEASE BE ULTRA CAREFUL WHEN ENTERING OUR COMPLEX<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

There have been reports from members that a white van has followed them into the complex when they have opened the main gate and requested the gate to be left unlocked.<\/h2>\n

Until the Committee can establish that this van belongs to a member who is entitled to enter the complex can all members please be vigilant and report anything suspicious to a member of the Committee. Please also make certain not to allow any vehicles to follow you in through the main gate at any time and lock the gate immediately after you have driven into the top car park.<\/h2>\n

Your assistance with this will ensure our complex remains safe and secure and the Committee extend their thanks to you all.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

NO 24 HOUR TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS\u00a0PRESENT\u00a0TIME.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There have been many enquiries about 24 hour guest tickets in recent weeks.<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the latest meeting of the Committee, the matter of 24hour tickets was discussed and it was agreed to continue to observe the current ruling that only day tickets can currently be purchased.<\/h2>\n

Your understanding of this decision is greatly appreciated and the status of 24hour tickets will continue to be discussed regularly by the Committee.<\/h2>\n

Dear Members,<\/h2>\n

Please can everyone attending site in a vehicle think about how and where they are parking, especially in the bottom car park which is often far busier.<\/h2>\n

Already since opening there has been a necessity to locate vehicle owners who have obstructed others from being able to negotiate their way in or out of the parking area and this, I am sure you can all appreciate, really shouldn't be necessary if everyone just parks a bit more considerately.<\/h2>\n

Many of you will have seen the discussion on the Facebook page relating to the \"MAGIC TWIG<\/strong><\/span>\" product which has recently been extensively promoted.<\/h2>\n

With very mixed reviews thus far, the jury is currently out on the suitability of this item but for the time being a decision has been made to NOT<\/strong><\/span> allow members to use it anywhere on site.<\/h2>\n

Hopefully this will stop any member spending money on something which may end up being permanently excluded but that decision will be made in due course and broadcast on the usual platforms.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Following a query from a member, the Committee wish to remind everyone that the sacking of fish is forbidden and only holding fish in a weigh sling with buoyancy aids, for the minimal amount of time required to get equipment ready for weighing and taking photos, is permitted. Landed fish should be returned to the water as outlined in bylaw 3:21.
The wording will be altered in the 2024\/5 membership book to avoid any further ambiguity in\u00a0this\u00a0respect.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Wading is not permitted<\/strong>, the only exception being to safely land or release a fish after capture and only if its safe to do so. Margins can be dangerous.<\/h2>\n

Always ensure you have a safe footing if you need to enter the water and assistance if you feel it may be required.<\/h2>\n

Be aware you enter the water at\u00a0your\u00a0own\u00a0risk.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE,<\/b>
After routinely reviewing cctv it is noticeable that
some members are still not dipping sufficiently.
The whole of the mat \/ cradle must be totally covered by the disinfectant solution.
Leaving the mat folded up inside the case and dipping the case
is not sufficient as you cannot guarantee the folded-up
equipment gets coated with solution.
Please ensure you take all parts of the mats cradles out of its cover bags
and dip them individually, thus ensuring all parts are covered.
